the drama of Mahler, drinking strong coffee, watching the inky protagonists of dawn with kaleidoscopic patterns, 5 am, when the planets arise from slumber, through half reflected plate glass windows, sat in sinking seats beside the dressing-gowned coffee machine of Warwick University Student Union hall , 1971 Arts festiva l. Half awake with the experiential Das Klagende Lied , roaring with octaves, through cloud-high choral speakers. The night before; kipping in sleeping bags in
the halls of residence. The evening, a cultural pageant of Street Theatre , Bob Cobbing Sound Poems , the Absurd Theater of Pinter, Genet, Asimov, Ionesco; blues and progressive bands; food and fun.
