Politics was in dire straits with the Iron Lady forged in the furnaces of the Tees to defeat the Infant Hercules. Riding in a Triumph Herald, Acklam to Thornaby with an engine tuned to the Sultans of Swing , Chrissie Hynde and Sting. Flag ships at Middlesbrough docks and a distant foghorn flagging that up.
